Accounts Payable Accountant

Brief Description

Under the supervision of the Controller, the Accounts Payable Accountant will be a dynamic resource to accounting staff, is responsible for processing the Accounts Payable transactions, and is accountable for meeting all financial reporting deadlines set by the Controller and CFO.

Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review all incoming Purchase Orders and Invoices for proper approvals.
  • Complete vendor account reconciliations utilizing a three way match.
  • Understand the company General Ledger structure and review all incoming invoices for appropriate general ledger coding based on GAAP.
  • Facilitate payment of outstanding invoices based on review of cash management and account/invoice due dates.
  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating schedules for allocated costs.
  • Process annual lease and repetitive invoice schedules for Executive approval.
  • Prepare and distribute financial operations reports to various departments.
  • Assist with financial and tax audits fieldwork PBC requests.
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION: High School diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES

  • Minimum of 3 years Accounts Payable experience including an understanding of the general ledger accounts and their relationship to Accounts Payable.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with Oracle a plus.
  • Not-for profit and health industry experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience working with complex spreadsheets and pivot tables.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
  • Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
