Job Overview

Due to open in Summer 2025 the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) will be the first to set new ambitious standards of practice and outcomes for rehabilitation patients in England. The NRC programme is hosted by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The NRC is a new, purpose-built 70-bed facility which will be built on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough. It is co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre with whom the NRC will work closely.

The NRC programme is at a crucial stage of planning and transition to ensure that the centre is established robustly to achieve the excellence it strives for. The workforce is key to the successful delivery of improved patient outcomes, to achieve its national ambition in training and education and to embed research into clinical practice.

We are looking for a Project Officer who can help co-ordinate and support the NRC programme team in this crucial stage of transition. This will primarily involve engaging with stakeholders, supporting specialty leads to drive the programme, supporting with reporting requirements to demonstrate programme delivery. The post holder will work across a number of work streams focused on the opening of the new centre, working closely with the Project Managers, Director of Operations and the Head of Commercial and Construction for the NRC.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide project support to the project board/s, managers and teams to aid the transition work streams for the NRC.
  • Act as Government Soft Landings coordination repressive for the NRC and Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) team.
  • Proactively manage areas of work, anticipating deadlines and preparing the Project Managers / Workstream leads for upcoming meetings and ensure all preparation and reports for upcoming events are complete.
  • To liaise with and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the successful delivery of the NRC.
  • Support in the delivery of EFM, commissioning, testing, training and handover.
  • Ability to communicate with a range of users and occupiers, visitors and facilities managers at a range of organisational levels so that end performance requirements are communicated throughout the process.

  • Experience of managing change projects
  • Experience in setting up effective information management systems to track progress and inform planning and mitigation

  • Experience of large scale change programmes in an NHS setting
  • Knowledge of developing soft landings in line with Government Soft Landing (GSL)

  • Ability to form effective and productive relationships quickly to promote the benefits of the programmes and motivate NHS organisations to implement the various initiatives within the programme

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team
