Basic Function

Howard University’s Department of Communication, Culture and Media Studies (CCMS) is hosting a visiting scholar in intercultural communication studies.

The ideal candidate would have experience in ethnography research. The Fellow will work with a multidisciplinary team of scholars to conduct research and inform the development of communication reports.

Supervisory Accountability

Visiting scholar will work with and be mentored by senior faculty within CCMS, a doctoral-level department that prepares students in three tracks – health communication; technology, policy, and society; and media and cultural studies. CCMS is part of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications at Howard University, a private historically Black university in Washington, DC., with a social justice mission.

Core Competencies

Ideal candidates would have a strong interest in intercultural communication. Researcher will receive guidance and training in the preparation of manuscripts for scientific journals and presentations at conferences.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should possess an earned doctoral degree in Communication or interdisciplinary area. The Visiting Scholar need to bring his/her own funding for this position. Howard University is not providing funding for salary, benefit or research money.
