Job Title: Middle School Boys Athletic Campus Coordinator / PE Teacher (In Anticipation of Future Openings)

Reports to: Campus Principal and Athletic Director

Dept/School: Middle School Campus to be Assigned

Work Year: 184 days

Base Salary: Teacher Pay Scale Coaching Stipend

Primary Purpose

Direct and manage middle school boys’ athletics in all phases. Foster a positive relationship with high school feeder programs and develop a line of communication between the campus principal, athletic department and high school feeder program.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Knowledge of district, state, and University Interscholastic League (UIL) policies and governing athletics

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to pass annual and random DOT physical/drug testing

Ability to physically perform a front and back door bus evacuation

Ability to physically perform CPR and First Aid techniques on the ground or floor

Ability to lift 30lbs

Ability to maneuver effectively in a school bus

Capable of responding calmly in emergency situations

Experience

Quality coaching experience at the middle school or high school level

Instruction

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.

Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.

Program Management

Establish performance criteria, in conjunction with high school feeder program, for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.

Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.

Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.

Work with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.

Develop and coordinate with high school feeder program a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings.

Drive bus to transport students safely and efficiently from one location to another when needed.

Report any mechanical problems with the bus or other district vehicles.

Follow Frisco ISD Policies, State of Texas School Bus Driver Laws, and Texas CDL Laws.

Student Management

Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.

Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.

Communication

Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

Administration

Assist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.

Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.

Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise assigned assistant coaches and student athletic assistants.

Other Duties As Assigned

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, driving, pulling and pushing. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat. Moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot) and vehicle fumes.
