LLume : by Organic Robotics Corporation

Electrical Engineer III

Organic Robotics Corporation/LLume is a Cornell University spin-off company in its fourth year of growth. Presently, it is commercializing Light Lace®, a patented fiber-optic sensor technology for motion capture, muscle activity, and respiration measurements. We are making products using Light Lace® under the brand name LLume (http://llume.io). Presently, we are laser focused on using this technology to provide cardiopulmonary insights to improve fitness; however, this technology platform has limitless application beyond this first product category.

  • Light Lace® sensors are made of a soft, flexible material that can be woven into clothing or attached to the skin. It is washable, comfortable to wear, and can be used to collect data in real time.
  • Patented technology with many more innovations behind the curtains.
  • ORC's technology is being used by athletes, coaches, and researchers to improve athletic performance, prevent injuries, and track rehabilitation progress in the near future.
  • The company is also exploring the use of Light Lace® for other applications, such as healthcare, fitness, industrial safety, and DoD relevant issues.

Some of the key benefits of Light Lace® include:

  • Sensitivity: Light Lace® sensors are highly sensitive and can measure small changes in muscle activity and respiration.
  • Elasticity: Light Lace® sensors are flexible and can bend and twist with the human body. This effect makes them comfortable to wear and allows them to be used in many settings.
  • Washability: Light Lace® sensors are washable, which makes them easy to keep clean.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Light Lace® sensors are a fraction of the cost of traditional motion capture systems.

LLume is a growing company with a bright future. The company's technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we track and measure human movement. We are excited to add to our twelve person team of engineers, and build out our product team with enthusiastic, smart, and experienced partners.
