Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Optical Engineer at EVISION SMART OPTICS, INC in Sarasota, FL. The Optical Engineer will be responsible to lead efforts in the designing, simulation, and testing of diffractive optics. They will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve optical engineering challenges, and provide technical expertise in the development of new optical technologies.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in optical engineering and at least 5 years of industry experience or a M.S. in optical engineering and at least 10 years of industry experience.
• Experience and strong understanding in designing diffractive optical elements and/or systems for imaging and/or ophthalmic applications
• A mastery of scalar and rigorous diffraction analysis methods and their implementation in standard software tools (e.g. Matlab, Zemax OpticStudio, etc.).
• Hands-on experience measuring performance metrics (e.g. diffraction efficiency, MTF) of diffractive optical elements and/or systems.
• A strong understanding of, and hands-on experience with, microfabrication methods such as: physical vapor deposition of thin films (e.g. DC sputter), spin coating of thin films from solution, photolithography, etching of thin films using wet and dry methods.
• Experience with Liquid crystal devices, including displays.
• A willingness to mentor junior engineers and technicians.
