The Mission:
As SCM's Director of Pre Construction, you will be in the corporate office located in Golden, Colorado contributing to the leadership of the construction group. This position will involve leading the preconstruction team, including managing design build projects, estimating, purchasing, contracts in a strategic effort to exceed the strategic goals of SCM and SIG. It will also include leading one or more projects through the design build or estimating process. The right candidate should be comfortable working with customers and the sales team to achieve the objectives of SCM and our clients. Additionally, this position will require working with frontline managers, contractors, and executives to ensure each project is successful. The ideal candidate exemplifies leadership, is detail oriented, a self-learner, builder of processes, and comfortable maintaining a work-life balance in a fast-paced high-growth environment.
Key Results:
Successful awards leading to a 35% win ratio
Complete estimates leading to a minimum 100% project level profit tread with a targeted 10% EBITDA
Successful management and execution of preconstruction teams that are actively supporting 6 projects at any given time
Main Responsibilities:
Strategic and Tactical execution of SCM Strategic Plan
Develop, oversee, and manage a team of estimators, design build managers and buyers
Participate in strategic planning
Responsibility resource planning
Make site visits as needed
Engage in speaking events at industry related trade shows and events
Support recruiting and hiring of new team members
Lead the turnover process from precon to the field ensuring a successful project
Vette customers to ensure projects are feasible including financing
Manage the preconstruction P&L
Coordinate and schedule meetings and communication plan(s) regarding projects among team and/or client
Assist in project lessons learned process and ensure lessons learned are implemented on future projects
Assist Project Manager in setting metrics for KPI's that align with SCM and customers objectives
Work closely with the project and construction management team to evaluate supplier performance indicators, invoices/billings, schedule, and budgets
Assist in technology selection, consolidation and implementation to achieve automation and AI targets
Attend and contribute to Pre-Mortem and Post-Mortem risk reviews
Assist in annual planning and program build out of SOP's
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications:
8 Years of relevant experience in a construction role including 5 years in Preconstruction
Bachelor's degree
Customer service mindset
Communication skills
Project Management experience
Proficiency with Procore a plus
Proficiency with AIA contracts
Proficient with Onscreen takeoff
Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
A drive to learn and do as much as possible in an entrepreneurial setting
Ability to use one's own autonomy and creativity to be macro managed with mentorship
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Specifically Excel), Smartsheet and Google Suite products
Benefits
