Are you a registered Social Worker who thrives on working with children and families?

Would you like to become part of a new workforce initiative to support families with social and emotional needs in our Child and Family Mental Health Service?

Are you energised by working with families who have social system challenges, who experience a high level of social, emotional health difficulties that are inherently linked to these challenges?

Are you interested in adopting a trauma informed compassionate approach to assessing and managing safeguarding needs, and working with families experiencing a high level of distress who may be difficult to engage?

If yes, we would like to invite you to join us in an exciting opportunity to work in the engagement and stabilisation pathway across our community and acute care teams!

You will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team working directly with children and families who have a high level of social care needs alongside (and often underpinning) mental health difficulties. You will work to forge and develop collaborative working relationships with partner agencies to promote high standards of clinical practice when working with all young people and their families/carers. You will offer advice and guidance on risk and safeguarding to the team, completing assessments of risk and referring to the social care teams where needed.

You will hold a clinical caseload where you will co-ordinate care planning, and take part in the duty rota where a more immediate response from families or referrers is needed. Experience of supporting families experiencing acute distress would be highly beneficial. Excellent communication skills will also be a core required skill.

If you would like to develop your skills in working with young people and families who experience chronic and enduring mental health needs, as well as working with neurodivergent children and families, this is an ideal opportunity to transfer your current skills and learn new ones. We'll make sure that you gain the right expertise and through our Clinical Competency Framework, we'll guide you and support you in your new role, consider appropriate further training needs and offer excellent clinical supervision and line management support.
