Sr Process Engineer

Job Summary:

The Sr Process Engineer is responsible for process design activities within Verdalia Bioenergy global portfolio of biomethane & biofertilizer plants as well as process support to operational plants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process design and corresponding Front Engineering Design documents, including Mass Balance (MB), Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and the Process & Instrumentation Diagram (PID)

• Develop all necessary process engineering, methodologies, tools & standards.

• Review supplier requirements, feedstock quality and quantity and propose suitable solutions in line with the business standard designs and products,

• Assess of proposed locations and assist Engineering with layout development from process point of view.

• Provide technical support to planning and permitting consultants during planning application stage,

• Specify major plant equipment, liaise with suppliers, and obtain technical details and cost for the plant design and costing,

• Support with CAPEX & OPEX estimation

• Support with compilation of all applicable technical documentation for the plan and/or the contract

• Supporting procurement department in deal negotiations and contract conclusion and for pre-qualifications in the request process
• Support with the continuous management of the costing database in collaboration with the Applications Team
• Support with return of experience transfer from operational assets

Team Leadership and Development:

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence within the team.
• Support in adequate training and development programs are in place for staff.

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

• Ensure all processes comply with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Project Management:

• Support with process-related projects from conception through to implementation, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Prepare project reports and documentation as required.

Quality Control and Assurance:

• Support in the implementation and monitor quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of production.
• Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.

Technology and Innovation:

• Stay abreast of the latest developments and innovations in biomethane production technologies.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve production efficiency and sustainability.
• Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and processes within the plant.

Budgeting and Financial Management:

• Support in the development and manage the budget for process operations, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
• Support in the monitoring of financial performance and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
• Support in the preparation of financial reports and forecasts for senior management.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Support in the engagement with external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure smooth operation and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• 8-10 years of experience as a process engineer within the renewable energy or chemical industry, with at least 3-5 years in a Sr role.
• Strong knowledge of biomethane production processes and technologies or related processes (wastewater treatment, waste treatment)
• Proven track record of leading process optimization and improvement initiatives.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in process simulation software and other relevant technologies.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards in the biomethane industry.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily office-based with frequent visits to the production plant.
• May require occasional travel to other company sites or industry events.
• May involve occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines or address operational issues.
