What’s it like working as a Manager, Commercial Credit Review?

This role is responsible for supporting the credit review and administration of CTC’s insured multifamily loan program. This includes credit reviews and ongoing credit monitoring of loans, including annual reviews on existing CMHC insured loans, being offered by third parties to CTC to be pooled in NHA MBS. The role is also responsible for assisting with the review and approval of post funding requests, inquiries and administration of the program, in line with CMHC requirements and CTC’s policies.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commercial Credit, the Manager, Commercial Credit will assist in managing all credit and servicing matters relating to commercial loans held in the multi-family CMB program including, initial credit reviews, renewal status updates, ensuring appropriate Third Party property inspections are completed, and adherence to any specific requirements of the CMHC certificate and CTC’s policies. The Manager will assist in reporting on the performance and activities of the portfolio through CTC’s management committees. They will also assist with annual credit reviews for commercial loans in CTC’s servicing portfolio.

• Support the Senior Manager in completing credit reviews of insured multi-family loans presented by external origination partners ensuring underwriting and credit analysis are appropriate and that CMHC and CTC’s lending and other criteria are met.
• For commercial loans serviced by CTC assist the Director in completing annual reviews, or credit reviews for loan renewals
• Provide and maintain adequate support and documentation for reviewed loans.
• Work with the Senior Manager in managing CMHC audits related to the insured multifamily loan program, including a review of externally prepared underwriting presentations & supporting documentation to ensure appropriate underwriting methodology and conclusions, with specific attention to confirm lending metrics align with both CMHC standards and CTC’s own internal lending policies.
• Support in all post funding requests relating to insured multi-family loans purchased from third parties, including the review and approval of undertaking fulfillment, as well as requests for consent to additional financing, assumptions and other items as may be required.
• Monitor and provide timely reporting on the credit characteristics and performance of the insured multi-family mortgage portfolio
• Ensure and report on compliance with CMHC requirements as an approved lender.
• Assist in management of commercial arrears cases as required for multi-family loans.
• Produce procedures, required reporting, templates and forms
• Analyze incoming CMB issuance credit metrics for review and approval
• Quarterly production of reviews of Servicer’s CMB loan Annual Reviews for presentation to Senior management.
• Maintain the historical securitized loan database
• Calculate and monitor ongoing exposure / concentration levels in the Multifamily Securitization program.
• Administration and management of upcoming securitized loan maturities
• Own and maintain documentation for the department including templates, correspondence, filing systems.

• 5-7 years of experience in mortgage servicing and/or lending with some time focused on multi-family / CMHC servicing.
• Ability to understand CMHC Multifamily handbooks and abide by its guidelines
• Expert knowledge in the LMS system, Previous experience in file migration and onboarding to new IT systems.
• Previous experience in assisting in producing procedures, required reporting, templates and forms
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other related applications.
• Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Able to work with and handle multiple competing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Able to recognize and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential personal information.
• Demonstrated superior planning, organizational and time-management skills.
