Coordinator (Teaching & Learning ECE Management 1 - MR10)

The Coordinator will oversee and supervise the daily operations for one site of the Children's Center and will provide coverage for both sites if the other coordinator is unavailable or until filled if position is vacant. The position will supervise staff and student assistants, including requests for leave; complete evaluations of staff; scheduling hours for staff and student assistants; review lesson plans; inform the Lead Coordinator of any issues with the Center or staff; and ensure all requirements are met for the NAEYC and 3 STAR organizations.

Duties And Responsibilities

Supervising the staff to ensure all classrooms and children are receiving what is needed for the best educational experience; conducting full and part time staff with the annual performance evaluations; scheduling staff and student assistants; scheduling student assistants in the hours needed most by staff, for breaks, help in the classrooms, vacations, sick leave, etc.; schedules will change with each semester, if not more often; reviewing of lesson plans, making corrections where needed; ensuring classrooms are fully staffed and materials needed are available for staff to complete their jobs; preparing reports and information needed for Advisory Board meetings, parent meetings, weekly staff meetings, etc.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following

  • Knowledge or willing to learn Early Childhood Education and developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood.
  • Skills to be a mediator and defuse conflicts with staff or families.
  • Ability to give creative feedback to staff in a professional manner.
  • Ability to ‘change hats’ often from a sit-down job to a very physically active position with children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
  • Knowledge of operating a classroom and ability to discern what is ‘needed’ versus what is a ‘want’ for the classrooms and Center.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Must be able to occasionally work weekend and evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in related field; k nowledge of operating a classroom; s ome supervisory experience; and s ome knowledge/ experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors or an advanced degree in field of Education/Leadership/Management and a background in Early Childhood Education is desired.
