Summary

We are currently hiring for a Community Outreach Specialist to join BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. In this role as Community Outreach Specialist, you will cultivate relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and influencers in the community. You will also deliver presentations, attend community events/meetings, and distributes materials while working with corporate communications team. Also, you will ensure activities are updated, distributed, and in compliance with contracts and mandates.

Logistics

This position is full time (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday and will be located at 17 Technology Circle, Columbia, S.C., 29203.

What You Will Do

  • Plans and executes community/member events.
  • Executes member growth and retention strategies.
  • Measures and tracks result and identifies root causes that will enable assigned targets to be met.
  • Develops and implements community/member outreach and education plans that align with the corporate strategic goals. Researches and identifies new opportunities for community engagement.
  • Supports and collaborates with various internal teams to ensure corporate goals are met.
  • Ensures state required marketing activity reports are communicated to management.

To Qualify For This Position, You Will Need

  • Bachelor's OR four years job related work experience OR Associate's and two years job-related work experience.
  • Two years community outreach experience.
  • Self-motivation and proactive to take the initiative.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Understanding South Carolina community resources and programs and ability to forge relationships with these organizations.
  • Cultural and linguistic understanding of the Medicaid population.
  • Microsoft Office.

  • Medicaid TPL experience.
  • Two years of training OR outreach experience.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong research, planning, and data gathering and analytical skills.
