Future Leap begun as a network of sustainable change makers twenty years ago. Our mission is to give organisations the tools, space, knowledge, and contacts to accelerate their sustainability journey and progress towards net zero. We do this by providing a range of sustainability related advisory services, facilitating future-thinking discussions, collaborating with one another and showcasing innovative solutions. We aim to be the primary source of sustainability related services and information for commercial clients in the South-West and beyond.  

 

Future leap is a business service provider with a community of value-driven organisations at its core. Our consultancy team provides a range of sustainability-related advisory services, specialising in the measurement, management and reduction of carbon emissions. Owing to our rapid growth, Future Leap is looking to expand the team by recruiting a sustainability and net zero consultant. Experienced and knowledgeable in the frameworks and regulatory landscape surrounding net zero, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and managing net zero consultancy projects across a variety of industry sectors.  

 

We aim to build long-term and lasting relationships with our clients and therefore an ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels and be a trusted source of advice is paramount. Reporting to the head of consultancy, this varied role will require working independently as well as collaborating with external delivery partners and other Future Leap departments.  

 

The key responsibilities include: 

 

The remit of this role will be to deliver net zero consultancy projects for our clients, covering the measurement, management and reduction of carbon. Our consultants work with businesses to develop their climate strategy, analyse their data, model potential reductions, and set up processes and systems to continually improve performance. The successful candidate will be required to:  

 

  • Analyse emissions data covering scopes 1, 2 and 3. 
  • Understand carbon reporting frameworks (GHG protocol, SBTi, ISO) and produce structured reports that not only achieve regulatory compliance but provide true insight into a company’s emissions profile.  
  • Help clients to set ambitious yet achievable short and long-term net zero targets.  
  • Conduct business assessments and site audits to highlight opportunities for emissions reduction and build these into carbon reduction plans and net zero transition plans. 
  • Conduct energy assessments and low-carbon technology option evaluation and feasibility, modelling the potential impact of interventions on both cost and carbon. 
  • Be a trusted point of contact for clients and manage follow-up care including repeat foot printing and yearly progress reviews. 
  • Identify ways to speed up action and remove barriers to progress, including signposting Future Leap’s own financial and retrofit offerings, and advising on available grant funding where available.    
  • Undertaking business development activities where required and ensure that customer relationships are managed to ensure maximum value for both the client and for Future Leap.  
  • Participate in business development and marketing campaigns, contributing thought leadership and promoting Future leap’s services at internal and external events 

Required Skills 

Essential  

  • Knowledge and experience of carbon accounting and net-zero regulation and frameworks from both a mandatory and voluntary perspective (SBTi, PAS2060, PAS 2080, SECR, ESOS, TCFD, ESRS etc.)  
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with carbon calculators and accounting platforms 
  • Proven experience of project management. Demonstrable experience of managing risk and resource and delivering projects on time and within budget. 
  • Highly numerate with an ability to analyse large datasets.  
  • A strong communicator, both written and verbal.  
  • Adept at writing reports and presenting complex information in an accessible and organised manner.  
  • Solid understanding of business operations with the ability to advise clients and explain the benefits of strategic action on sustainability in clear and concise terms. 
  • Must be well-motivated and comfortable managing a varied workload. 
  • Adept at forming and developing relationships with key stakeholders, notably clients, associate consultants / delivery partners, and other internal Future Leap departments. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Interest and passion for sustainability and environmental issues. 

Desirable 

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field such as engineering, energy, construction, surveying, environmental management, environmental science, sustainability, or business operations.  
  • Knowledge and experience of energy auditing processes and the modelling of low-carbon energy solutions 
  • Knowledge and experience of reporting on broader sustainability and ESG concerns including biodiversity, water use, supply chain considerations and social sustainability. 
  • Experience in a consultancy environment, and knowledge of bid application processes. 
  • Experience of implementing or managing environmental management solutions such as ISO 14001

The successful candidate will be supported by a team who are dedicated to improving sustainability performance. They will be primarily based at our sustainable business hub in Clifton, however flexible and hybrid working patterns are available. Hours 

F/T Monday-Friday (part-time and flexible work patterns will be considered) 

Salary  

£28k-£30k p/a, depending on experience.
