Job Description:

Design, develop, support, deploy and/or test and influence industry leading technology solutions of large scale that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives. Works independently and applies industry leading engineering skills, tools, practices, and techniques to all deliverables across SLF business groups. Demonstrates industry leading understanding of core engineering concepts such as: development, testing, source control, security, performance, data, DevSecOps, system administration, agile planning, and focused on learning more about these domains and continuously honing their craft. Ability to focus on task at hand while also thinking strategically, follow-through on prescribed plan with ability to be flexible and think under pressure while influencing others across SLF business groups. Highly motivated team player with a strong desire to learn, grow, and continuously improve.

Details

• Execute full software and product development life cycle (SDLC) and drive continuous improvements
• Develop industry leading deliverables to deliver technical solution(s) seeking business and Client feedback
• Write leading well-designed, testable, flexible, and scalable code and/or technology solutions
• Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
• Integrate industry leading software components into a fully functional software system
• Develop industry leading software verification (testing) plans and quality assurance procedures
• Document and maintain industry leading technical solution functionality
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
• Deploy industry leading programs and evaluate business and Client feedback
• Ensure software is updated with latest features
• Proven leader in code reviews, ability to approve enterprise features, and validate vulnerability fixes
• Proven ability to write functional specifications for enterprise features
• Effectively mentor other engineers
• Lead improvements to application performance, reliability, and scale
  
  

Key Skills

• Industry leading engineering, system administration and software development (programming) foundation with deep and broad knowledge
• Proven ability to apply industry leading testing skills, tools/frameworks, techniques, processes, and principles to software solutions in support of defect management, automation, diagnosis and reporting in a complex production environment; provides test plan oversight
• Industry leading knowledge of performance testing coding best practices, and load and performance testing
• Lead improvements to application performance, reliability, and scale
• Proficiently utilize, influence, and drive multiple software development and deployment methodologies, processes, development best practices and DevOps/DevSecOps principles
• Remain current with technology trends and lead change across U.S. IT
• Industry leading understanding of application security and security best practices
• Proven leader in code reviews, ability to sign off on enterprise features, and validate vulnerability fixes
• Proven ability to write functional specifications for enterprise features

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
