Secretary II - (10 Months RES, GES; 12 Months CRMS)

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the School Principal, a Secretary II provides services of a general, special, technical, sensitive and/or confidential nature.

Qualifications/ Competencies

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience or training as a secretary.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and software related to job responsibilities. Experience with Apple computers and Google platform a plus.
  • A professional manner
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • A willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-level secretarial tasks and managerial duties.
  • Maintains a wide variety of office records, files, and reports.
  • Assumes a high degree of responsibility and self-motivation.
  • Handles complex correspondence requiring subject matter knowledge and discretion.
  • Has excellent business and writing skills.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of computers, specific office software, and file/computer maintenance requirements.
  • Has a working knowledge of the general organization and functions of the major units of the Caroline County Public School system.
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of business office procedures and is able to perform these procedures without supervision.
  • Is able to act and react in the absence of an administrator.
  • Composes routine correspondence with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
  • Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

PAY & HOURS: These are 10- month and 12-month positions with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Services Personnel Salary Schedule. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills, and training related to this position.
