The HR Specialist, Leaves & Compliance is responsible for managing the organization’s leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with workers' compensation, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements. This role includes backup support for benefits administration, handling unemployment claims, data entry in UKG, maintaining labor law posters, overseeing meal and break policies, updating the employee handbook, and performing various administrative HR tasks.
Schedule: Monday-Friday (8am-5pm)
Pay: $55,000k - $65,000k/yr. Based on Experience
What will you be doing?
Administer and manage all types of leave of absence, including FMLA, state-specific leaves, and company-specific leave policies. Ensure timely and accurate processing of leave requests and maintain related documentation. Communicate leave policies and procedures to employees and managers, providing guidance and support as needed.
Manage workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Coordinate with employees, managers, and insurance carriers to facilitate the claims process. Monitor claim status and maintain accurate records.
Handle requests for reasonable accommodations under the ADA. Work with employees and managers to assess accommodation needs and implement solutions. Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with ADA regulations.
Prepare and submit required EEO-1 reports and other compliance-related documentation. Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting to meet EEO requirements. Maintain and report OSHA-required documentation, including incident reports and annual summaries.
Provide backup support for benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries. Assist in benefits communication and education efforts.
Manage unemployment claims, ensuring accurate and timely responses. Coordinate with relevant parties to gather necessary information and documentation.
Enter and maintain accurate HR data in the UKG system.
Ensure labor law posters are current and displayed in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Regularly review and update postings as required.
Monitor and enforce meal and break policies in accordance with applicable laws. Provide guidance to managers and employees on policy compliance.
Assist in the maintenance and updating of the employee handbook. Ensure policies are current, compliant with legal requirements, and effectively communicated to employees.
Provide support for various HR projects and initiatives as needed. Assist with HR audits and compliance reviews. Perform other administrative tasks to support the HR department.

What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
1-2 years of experience in HR, with a focus on leave management and compliance.
Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, EEO, OSHA, and other relevant laws and regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
Proficient in HRIS systems (UKG experience a plus).
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
