Overview

Responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of new components on Canoo vehicles, with an emphasis on LV Hardware architecture and software. This role is an enabler for cross-functional development of the product between the design responsible engineers, the test and validation engineers, and the system integration engineers. Projects will require rapid experimentation and prototyping without sacrificing quality or safety. Rapidly prototype solutions while managing hardware and software change documentation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (80s of the Position)

  • Define and implement hardware prototypes with cross functional impact analysis.
  • Ensure alignment of products/features with key stakeholders e.g. Software developers, ECU engineers, UIUX designers, etc.
  • Hands-on design, build, test and refine hardware prototype to enable solutions with minimal SW and HW deviation.
  • Communicate issues clearly and constructively to the rest of the organization and use your expertise to recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in electrical/software engineering or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, vehicle communication systems, vehicle 12V power distribution systems, electronic distribution system design, automotive wire harness design, and electronic fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture and common vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN and Ethernet).

Preferred Experience 

  • Experience with prototyping solutions within existing systems is highly desirable
  • Experience with prototype vehicles, electric vehicles, motorsports, motorsport electronics, or heavy vehicle
  • Experience root causing electrical and software related issues
  • Experience with CAN tools (Vector or similar)
  • Proficient creating and reading electrical/wire schematics.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 20% travel depending on program phase
