ESL Instructor - Remote | WFH

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Remote ESL Instructor to join our team on a contract basis. As an ESL instructor with us, you will work virtually, conducting English language lessons via online meetings. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a curriculum tailored to teach English to non-native speakers. Our ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to create an engaging learning environment, comfort with remote teaching, and flexibility to accommodate students across different time zones. Familiarity with various teaching methodologies and tools that cater to ESL students' unique needs is essential. Ultimately, your role will be to enhance students' English language skills in reading, writing, and speaking.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging instructional activities focused on teaching communicative skills to non-native English learners.

Design and implement a customized curriculum that meets the language needs of students preparing for college studies, visa interviews, and daily life in the US.

Monitor student progress through weekly reports, highlighting achievements, areas for improvement, and next steps. Conduct virtual instructor conferences to discuss progress and address concerns promptly.

Gather student feedback through surveys or one-on-one conversations to enhance their learning experience.

Prepare students for standardized language proficiency tests required for college admission or visa applications.

Foster a positive educational climate by organizing virtual social activities like coffee breaks and lunch and learn sessions. Create online forums for students to interact, share experiences, and support each other.

Collaborate closely with onsite colleagues and administrators, attending virtual school meetings to optimize student performance. Encourage feedback from staff on curriculum design, material preparation, and teaching methods.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field.

ESL teaching certification (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA).

Experience in teaching international students, preferably from China or other Asian countries, either in person or online.

Strong communication skills and cultural awareness.

Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to meet student needs.

Familiarity with language proficiency exams and college admission requirements.
