Basic Function And Scope Of Responsibilities

The Assistant Dean reports directly to the Dean of the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment and is responsible for the overall development and operation of the educational programs in the School, personnel management, faculty recruitment, and day-to-day affairs of the Roc Nation School, inclusive of the Music and Sports Departments. The Assistant Dean coordinates activities with the Dean to achieve the education and community service missions of the School.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provides academic leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the School.
  • Plans with the faculty and appropriate committees for student admission, progression, retention, and advisement activities related to the undergraduate and graduate programs, both incoming and continuing.
  • Assists the Dean in the recruitment and selection of faculty and staff.
  • Advises and counsels students
  • Mediates problems between students and faculty.
  • Assumes responsibilities of the School in Dean’s absence.
  • Special projects as defined by the Dean.

Education Requirements

  • Terminal degree

Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience

  • Three to five years of related professional experience in a higher degree program (administrative and teaching).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in writing grant proposals and/or conducting research.
  • W orking knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Canva, Zoom, and other necessary technologies.
