HEAD OF FINANCE

• Essential: Financial Reporting leadership Insurance
• £100,000 - £120,000 package (incl. bonus, pension etc)
• Location: Reading 1-2 days p/wk, rest WFH

Pear Talent is representing an international Insurance business who are looking for a Head of Finance reporting directly to the CFO leading a team owning all core financial and regulatory reporting, FP&A and performance management. You'll work closely with the CFO/ExCo to improve financial insight and management in order to support decision making and drive business performance. This person will also be a key sponsor and lead of key Finance change and improvement projects.

Key accountabilities:

• Drive the UK business plan ensuring it's in line with the Group’s strategic direction and performance targets
• Own and lead the delivery of all core statutory financial (IFRS) and regulatory reporting, providing high-quality financial analysis, commentary and disclosures.
• Significant day-to-day interaction with senior management and ExCo stakeholders internally, as well as managing the external audit relationship.
• Provide technical advice on accounting standards and internal accounting policies, as well as impact assessment of new standards.
• Lead, develop and mentor a team of x5 on-shore and liaise with overseas offices
• Attend and present at meetings with C-suite and Board to discuss financial results.
• Actively challenge the status-quo of current processes and systems, exploring any potential improvements.
• Partner with all elements of the business on complex transactions and accounting issues.
• Continuous engagement with other functions such as the Treasury, Tax, Legal and M&A teams on specific projects or transactions.

Required experience:

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience gained in Insurance
• Proven track record of managing external financial reporting
• Ability to quickly gain credibility at senior levels within the business and demonstrate both first class project management and communication skills
• Able to work effectively across departments and experience of managing multi-location teams
• Strong presentation skills and people skills, good influencer
