As the technical director, you will supervise all SFLM productions to create appropriate budgets for labor and supplies. You will plan and maintain production and design schedules, lead production meetings, oversee staff and manage department shops, ensure projects follow OSHA and SCAD safety policies, and lead the transportation of all technical and design elements. You will address issues, review and approve production plans, maintain equipment inventories, supervise equipment usage, maintain facilities, develop maintenance schedules, mentor students, and support the chair at admission events. Responsibilities include developing renderings into working drawings to be used in project execution and liaising between project teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree and five years of industry experience in a scene shop as assistant technical director
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and digital rendering software
· Knowledge of set production protocols, tools, machinery, and techniques
· Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
· Strong work ethic, high standards in quality of work, and an understanding of industry trends
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
· Have or able to obtain a Class "C" Georgia driving license
Travel Required:
· Less than 10%
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Employees may be assigned other work days and/or hours.
