Senior Construction Estimator (Hybrid) Established and growing mid-size construction and consulting company in the East Bay Area is seeking a seasoned mid-level to senior cost estimator to support its rapidly growing Construction and Field Services Division. The person assuming this role will be expected to lead all aspects of project estimating for environmental and civil construction proposals and projects, including review of RFPs, plans, and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, procuring pricing from vendors and subcontractors, developing accurate production rates, and supporting project managers with estimates for change orders.

Core responsibilities: Assist with review of bid opportunities to identify viable pursuits. Review and analyze construction plans and specifications and use Bluebeam Revu software (among other estimating tools) to prepare quantity takeoffs in support of estimate preparation. Attend bid walks to gather site-specific information that influences the development of construction estimates. Prepare and distribute bid packages and solicit estimates from material and equipment vendors and specialty subcontractors. Thoroughly review and evaluate all bids received (i.e., pricing, completeness, etc.) and select those to be included in estimates. Build cost estimates using the company’s in-house estimating system. Conduct pre-final and final bid reviews with senior managers of construction prior to bid submission. Support construction managers with cost estimates for change orders. Work collaboratively with one or more other estimators on larger proposal efforts. Update and maintain databases of pricing history to support comparisons of production rates executed on past projects/proposals to production rates assumed for new estimates. Update and maintain databases containing current labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing rates. Relevant Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, science, or management; 5 years of direct experience and demonstrated success leading and preparing construction estimates related to environmental remediation and civil construction projects; Willing to travel to job sites for bid walksaround Northern CA on occasion. Familiarity with prevailing wages and industry codes and standards; Willingness and ability to travel throughout California to attend in-person pre-bid and project site walks (valid driver driver’s license required); Strong communication and interpersonal skills; and Ability to work productively in a dynamic team environment.
