Inventory Control Clerk

Job Description

Purpose:

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for entering orders for raw materials, maintenance supplies, and other items as directed from Operations and Maintenance. Logistics coordination as well as communication with Procurement team are also vital functions.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including incoming and outgoing shipments, and current stock levels.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify discrepancies or shortages.
• Coordinate with purchasing and warehouse teams to ensure proper stocking levels and timely replenishment of inventory.
• Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and records.
• Update inventory databases or software systems to reflect current stock levels and movements.
• Assist in the implementation and improvement of inventory management procedures.
• Prepare and generate reports on inventory activities, such as stock movements, trends, and variances.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding inventory management.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external (supplier) teams to address inventory-related issues and concerns.
  
  

Required Knowledge And Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in inventory management is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with safety procedures related to handling inventory and warehouse operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Proven experience in inventory control or a related field.
• Proficiency in using inventory management software or systems; experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards) is desirable.
• Knowledge of inventory control best practices and principles
• Working in manufacturing inventory management.
