In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics – whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.

Product Design Engineering Discipline Manager who will be a functional leader supervising a group of Mechanical Engineers and Technical Specialists. Providing functional leadership with focus in the areas of effectively staffing programs, developing personnel through training and mentoring them in ways to improve their skill base and their application of those skills. Support Product Team Leads with execution of project needs as necessary. Develop Knowledge Books and develops plan to share and continuously improve. Ensuring that the company processes are being followed, supporting winning new business, cost reductions, customer support, project leadership, process improvement, production following and technology development for Engineering


You will make impacts in the following
ways;

  • Develop mentor/training plans
  • Improve, provide, and maintain functional processes, policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Provide functional expertise and consultation as needed (including budget and schedule)
  • Meet Department budgets (Training, overhead, etc)
  • Provide resources and tools required by team
  • Support new business with concepts and quoting
  • Ensure appropriate expectations/goals are in place for employee's behavior, ethics
  • Communication flow down (Unit meetings); Performance and compensation management
  • Coordinate Functional Expertise
  • Ensure a culture of Continuous improvement (lessons learned) is in place
  • Knowledge development; Support New Business capture through effective task quoting.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 7 or more years of related experience. Previous experience in engineering management or project leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve cost, cycle time, and customer and engineering process objectives. Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and motivate engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and coordinate with other functions and customers. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Experience developing mechanical requirements, designs, verification and validation of products, and product integration.
  • Experience using state-of-the-art technology, principles, tools and concepts required.
  • Experience with mechanical development lifecycle and development processes and procedures required. Working knowledge of commercial and military specifications and standards related to mechanical design and documentation. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, run-lists, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and analysis tools such as Creo and ANSYS.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Two or more years of engineering management or project leadership experience.
  • Familiarity and experience with flight, engine or industrial controls programs.
  • Familiarity with support equipment development for both engineering and manufacturing.
  • Experience with IR&D development and production programs.
  • Previous experience leading engineering team of twenty or more.
  • MSME or, equivalent engineering degree. Candidate must have strong leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with CREO, ANSYS, and/or other mechanical design and analysis tools


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $107390 - $182603

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
