Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Purpose

Direct and lead the maintenance of all athletic and campus grounds areas; ensure that all landscaped areas are safe, well groomed, and aesthetically attractive. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

Qualifications



Education/Certification/Licensure

Bachelor’s Degree In Turfgrass Management (Preferred)

Texas driver’s license and pass MVR driving record check – must meet eligibility requirements for CCISD motor vehicle insurance

Special Knowledge/Skills

Effective Communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient in all Microsoft office suite applications

Extensive knowledge and experience in the use and operation of landscape and athletic field maintenance equipment

Experience in planning for grounds and other preventive, corrective and casualty maintenance

SPCB And/or Texas Department Of Agriculture Pesticide License (Preferred)

Knowledge of turf, soil, trees and landscaping diseases, herbicides, pesticides, and fertilization

Extensive background in sand-based fields and horticultural practices

Ability to understand and follow directions

Ability to supervise and direct personnel

Ability to be polite and courteous to people in the course of duties

Experience

Bilingual (Preferred)

Minimum of 5 years supervisor experience, preferably in the area of maintaining physical

facilities in a school district

Major Responsibilities And Duties



  • Supervise ground crews and participate in the ground’s maintenance of the district’s athletic fields.
  • Oversee and evaluate contract vendor performance as it relates to district landscape and grounds maintenance program.
  • Train personnel to perform the various job requirements.
  • Evaluate grounds personnel and perform annual evaluation of job performance.
  • Develop and manage the calendar of grounds maintenance.
  • Determine the need for painting, spraying, and fertilizing.
  • Determine the need for pest control consistent with IPM Coordinator’s recommendations and Texas Department of Agriculture Structural Pest Control Act.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and recommend the purchase of grounds supplies and equipment.
  • Assist the district’s utility conservation program.
  • Must communicate and work with campus administrators and athletic department to meet their scheduled events.
  • Maintain and document all fixed assets pertaining to the grounds program.
  • Participate in Standard Reunification Protocol as requested by Unified Commander or designee.
  • Participate in department on call supervisor after hours rotation.

  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  • Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  • Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  • Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  • Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, maintain emotional control at all times. Ability to work with frequent interruptions.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Ability to physically lift and carry boxes up to 50 pounds. Riding, walking, or standing 8 hours per day: frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; inside and outside exposure to weather, dust, toxic chemicals, and materials.
