Primary Purpose

This is a San Diego based Baja Call-in Position.

Executive Security Specialist II perform armed/unarmed executive security protection and other related services for executive leadership, members of the Board of Directors, and other designated personnel. Devoting full attention to the security mission and principles of protection, the Executive Security Specialist II provide the protectee with a safe environment free from both physical harm and embarrassment. Responsible for the safety and well-being of the protectee in his/her care and must take appropriate action in the event that the protectee becomes ill/injured and/or confronted by hostile persons. Receive direct supervision from the International Security & Executive Services Manager but will regularly receive direction or instruction from Executive Security Specialist Leads. Duties will be performed in both Mexico and the United States.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Meet at protectee’s residence, place of employment, or other designated location at the time required each day. Responsible for the safety and security of assigned protectee. This includes preparing safe transportation routes, evaluating the security of the protectee’s residence at departure and arrival, completing advances on destination points, and maintaining a presence when necessary at special functions or events. Perform general vehicle maintenance of assigned fleet. Receive direct supervision from Manager but will regularly receive direction or instruction from the ESS Lead.
  • Travel with protectee throughout the United States, Mexico, and other international locations, including extended days and weekends. Required to be available to his/her protectee until dismissed or as directed by ESS Lead or Manager.
  • Conduct site advances at off-site locations, to include meetings, hotels, restaurants, and special events at both public and private venues. When necessary, complete the necessary documentation such as site security reports and presentations.
  • Attend specialized training in executive protection, defensive & security driving, self-defense, certification in First Aid/CPR/AED (automatic external defibrillator), and first responder medicine (also known as TCCC: tactical combat casualty care). Attend security briefings and read intelligence reports affecting crime and safety throughout the southern California region.
  • Provide courier services for sensitive and confidential documents or materials for the assigned principal and other executives or departments. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Associate's degree in relevant field and/or equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.


Experience

  • 4 years of experience in law enforcement and/or military dignitary protection is required.
  • 4 years of experience with Latin American security is required.
  • 4 years of experience in executive protection in the private sector is preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in protective intelligence analysis and application is preferred.


Skills And Abilities

  • Must be knowledgeable of routes and locations throughout Southern California.
  • The ability to communicate (read, write, speak) in Spanish is required.
  • Knowledgeable of routes and locations throughout Baja California is preferred.
  • Current in executive protection knowledge, skills, and abilities is preferred.
  • Special event security planning and operations is preferred.
  • Residential security assessment and consulting is preferred.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.


Licenses and Certifications

  • Must have valid California driver license, safe driving record and no chargeable accidents or violations over the last three (3) years.
  • Executive protection or driving instructor certifications is preferred.
  • EMT or intermediate/advanced emergency medical certifications is preferred.
  • CCW, Retired Law Enforcement Credentials, or LEOSA HR-218 is preferred.


Other Qualifications

  • If hired, must successfully complete an Executive Services training program in the first year, to include Executive Protection and Security Driver courses, and First Aid/CPR/AED and tactical medicine courses.
  • Must maintain high levels of physical fitness and possess extraordinary organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
