POSITION SUMMARY:

Vision: A Technical Executive is a strategic partner with Sales, Solutions, Implementation, and key SMEs that focus on our Customers’ value, support program lifecycles, and deliver critical outcomes that ensure seamless and successful projects for FORTNA and our Customers.

Mission: The Director, Technical Executive Management will lead, manage and support the Technical Executive team as they focus on the upfront Sales process through opportunity scoping, develop project deliverables that are aligned to Customer needs, and apply technical/industry expertise that demonstrates and builds trust with our Customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

The primary function of this role is to support and accelerate the growth of the Technical Executive team within the region as part of the Commercial team structure. Leading a team of Technical Executives includes key responsibilities to ensure the team's efficiency, productivity, and overall success.

  • Setting Clear Goals and Objectives: Define the team's goals and objectives in alignment with FORTNA’s overall strategy and communicate them effectively to the team members.
  • Providing Direction and Guidance: Offer guidance and direction to team members on their tasks, projects, and overall responsibilities. Help them prioritize tasks and make decisions effectively.
  • Team Building and Motivation: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the team. Encourage teamwork, open communication, and mutual support among team members. Recognize and reward achievements to motivate the team.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and expertise to the team. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Offer mentorship and support to team members in their professional development.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to ensure projects are completed on time. Monitor resource utilization and make adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency.
  • Performance Management: Set performance expectations for team members and regularly assess their performance. Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and mentoring to help team members improve their skills and achieve their goals.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: Address issues and challenges that arise within the team promptly and effectively. Facilitate problem-solving discussions and encourage team members to contribute ideas and solutions. Make informed decisions that benefit the team and the organization.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster open and transparent communication within the team and with other departments or stakeholders. Keep team members informed about important updates, changes, and developments.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and obstacles that may impact project delivery or team performance. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
  • Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Regularly evaluate processes, workflows, and practices to identify areas for enhancement and implement changes as necessary.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and dedication in your work. Serve as a role model for the team and uphold the organization's values and standards.
  • Collaborate with Commercial leadership to support new business and technology opportunities for the organization.
  • Support and development and oversight of contractual scope documents for consulting and implementation programs.
  • Coordinate all required disciplines (engineering, procurement, estimating, delivery, finance, etc.) to execute technical solutions to meet the Customers’ expectations in the contracting phases.
  • Understanding and articulating FORTNA’s solution value messaging and presenting relevant and compelling business case examples to potential Customers.
  • Providing regular updates to FORTNA’s leadership team as necessary.
  • The role is considered remote, but travel to FORTNA office and Customer sites could be extensive.
  • The Director, Technical Executive Management will collaborate on and execute appropriate sales strategies through a Proposal Management cadence.
  • The role reports to the Vice President, Proposal Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related international degree designation in engineering, logistics, operations or business field
  • Ten plus years of leadership, sales, or technical experience
  • Comparable skills proven by operational and project experience can and will be equated
  • Technical knowledge of related equipment, solutions, technologies and suppliers
  • Experience with the design and/or implementation of high-volume material handling systems and distribution centers
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, consulting, strategic thinking, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills
  • Ability to translate highly ambiguous business issues into structured problems, and to develop well-founded solutions in a structured yet creative way
  • Superior communication skills and can present ideas in a clear, concise manner and can adapt communication style as needed
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and adherence to FORTNA principles at all times
  • Ability to manage multiple Customer & projects and work to tight deadlines
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Keen business sense, with the ability to find creative business-oriented solutions to problems
  • Ability to travel extensively both domestically and internationally as required
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job

WORKING CONDITONS: When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet. When travelling to Customer sites, requirements of this position may include physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from

being quiet to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, devices to protect eyes, mouth, or ears, will be worn as necessary.
