Our first GTM hire!


We are building an AI agent to reimagine enterprise legal operations, addressing a $300 billion market that has been underserved for decades. We’re looking for a Director, Business Development our first GTM hire! The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter, first-principles thinker, who can work collaboratively and independently to drive our sales and GTM efforts. You can bring products to life and speak the language of legal & compliance professionals. You’ll be a leader in the future of AI Saas.


You will be the first Business Development / GTM hire. This position reports directly to the Cofounder/CEO and will work closely on defining the company’s core business strategy.

About the role

As the Director of Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our go-to-market strategy. You will be responsible for identifying and securing strategic sales opportunities, building strong relationships with executives, key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing startup and make a significant impact from day one.


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth and market penetration.
  • Identify and target potential customers, including in-house legal teams, law firms, and corporate compliance departments.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Lead the end-to-end sales process, from prospecting and lead generation to closing deals.
  • Collaborate with engineering and marketing teams to ensure alignment of sales efforts with product offerings and market positioning.
  • Some travel to represent Ruli at conferences and events.
  • Build strategic partnerships that enhance our product offerings and expand our market reach.


About You

  • 7 years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships, preferably within Legaltech, Legal, or Tech industry
  • JD and legal experience a plus
  • Experience in B2B or SaaS GTM, channel strategy, pricing, subscription models.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with C-level executives.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
  • Ability and desire to take on broad strategic operational assignments as part of future development


What we offer

  • $210-280k OTE (On-Target Earnings), with a 60/40 split base to OTE.
  • This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Ruli and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including candidates market location, job related experience, industry experience, qualifications and skills.
