Position Overview

The Commercial Loan Settlement Officer is responsible for reviewing commercial loan files for accuracy and completeness prior to a loan closing. This individual will perform various duties to support the commercial loan closing function. In addition, the Commercial Loan Settlement Officer will coordinate work within the department and outside the department to ensure accuracy and high-quality service for the Bank’s customers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Reviews all commercial loan files for proper compliance disclosures, signatures, and documentation prior to closing.
• Reviews necessary documents when received from attorney or Title Company for accuracy prior to closing.
• Reviews the closing package when returned from settlement for accuracy of documentation and signatures.
• Works with attorneys, title companies, etc. to coordinate closings, order surveys, as necessary, and makes sure all necessary loan documentation is completed and delivered in a timely manner.
• Orders and reviews title work for loans when necessary.
• Issues closing instructions to settlement agent or attorney.
• Prepares loan closing documents for portfolio loans.
• Makes corrections to closing documents as needed and gets corrected documents signed and processed in a timely manner.
• Tracks closing dates on all new commercial loans to assure closing dates met.
• Forwards files to Loan Servicing for booking.
• Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
• Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
• Communicates with department management, other department managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
  
  

Education & Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent with an emphasis in business curriculum. Paralegal Certification, or similar training, is highly preferred.
• A minimum of two (2) years' related experience and a general understanding of commercial loan products and collateral normally required.

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient PC skills; proficient typing and word processing skills; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory, and speaking skills.
