Title: Vice President, Development - Utility Scale Battery Energy Storage


Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Location: Remote (United States)


Description: Responsible for developing grid scale standalone energy storage projects, throughout the entire life cycle, in target markets and providing guidance and leadership to the development team.

Job Description:


The Vice President of Development will be instrumental in shaping the company's development strategy, hiring, and key decision-making processes. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable tackling various challenges while driving the growth of the company.


Key Responsibilities:


- Collaborate with partners to set strategic goals and make pivotal development decisions.

- Lead project due diligence for acquisition opportunities.

- Support development activities at various stages of the project lifecycle.

- Develop siting location strategies and lead land acquisition from site identification to landowner negotiations.

- Oversee the interconnection process with assistance from technical resources.

- Lead the acquisition of local, state, and federal permits as required.

- Represent the company with customers, landowners, state and local officials, and other stakeholders.

- Assist in hiring and managing the development team as it grows.

- Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, coordinating internal and external technical support.


Key Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.

- Minimum of 10 years of project development experience, preferably in renewables and energy storage.

- Development experience in NYISO, ISO-NE, or PJM is preferred but not essential

- Proven track record of developing high-profile utility-scale projects through COD.

- Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, creativity, and leadership abilities.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.


Compensation and Location:


- Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

- Salary: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience

- Bonus: Competitive bonus based on the achievement of development milestones and performance

- Location: Must be eligible to work in the United States. Preferred base in New England or New York, though flexible work location is possible with required travel.
