Shuttleboat Captain

Key Responsibilities

• Boats
• Strictly adhere to the safety protocol for the boats and OP Department-Drive the powerboats for member excursions, transfers and snorkel trips in accordance to the guidance and directions given by the management and the power boat protocol.
• Ensure correct boats are used for correct purposes and approval is given bymanagement before use.
• Complete the boat fleet’s regular maintenance is carried out and recorded.
• Complete the boat fleets regular safety checks are carried out and recorded. Any concerns with potentially faulty equipment must be reported to management and taken off the vessel until inspected by management.
• Regularly check and recordthat all necessary safety equipment is available and in perfect working order. This includes life jackets, first aid kits, spinal board, oxygen, flares, fire extinguishers and all related safety equipment.
• Clean, polish and fuel the powerboats insuring they are presentableand immaculate at all times.
• Service and ensurethe mooring systems on the docks are well maintained and carry out repairs to includecleats, lazy-lines, mooring whips, fenders and cushions.
• To ensure guest and staff safety at all times. Refer any requests regarded as unsafe or any guests refusing to cooperate on safety issues to management.
• Clean and tidy thedocksto ensure theyare kept at an appropriate standard.
• Activities
• Touching base andmaintain enthusiasmwith members on a daily basis, encouraging activities and puttinginto place all necessary preparations for the trips and excursions to provide World class service and instruction.
• Facilitate and instruct members and staffin the activities and sports bakers bay offer which you are experienced and/or qualified in.
• To ensure member and staff safety at all times. Refer any requests regarded as unsafe or any guests refusing to cooperate on safety issues to management.
• Ensure that all Diving, kite-surfing, wakeboarding and wakesurfing, paddle boarding and any other relatedequipment are maintained in excellent working order. Effect repairs as necessary.
• Coordinate orders to ensure necessary parts are obtained following standard PO procedure as well as following set budget guidelines.
• Ensure all monthly safety checks are carried out & followed up and logged on the system.
• Ensure correct presentation of the OP department areas ensuring that it is clean, organized and professional.
• Make sure that all equipment is secured at the end of each day. Make sure that equipmentis accounted for and that all members are safely ashore. Conduct guest count as required.
• Assist in other OP services as required, including Ropes course, and assist with anyduties that may berequested by your manager or supervisors.
• Stock Control
• Help to implement monthly stock take/inventories of all parts and tools required for area as advised by Activities Manager.
• Keep storerooms locked, organized, and clean.
• Ensure good condition, upkeep and appropriate storage of tools and equipment.
• Health and Safety
• Always work withinthe company statutory Health andSafety guidelines set by activities management team.
• Ensure you always wear required PPE protection.
• Maintain aclean and safe working environment.
• Observe and abide to local pollution and COSHH regulations regarding disposal of waste materials,chemical and hazardous substances.
• Be an active member of the fire Marshal team and keep all fire equipment in the department up to date.
  
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a 4-5 star resort setting or in the luxury related field.
• Previous experience in the guest service industry, experience in hospitality is preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certified.
• Must hold a boat captain qualification.
• Powerboat Level 2 as a minimum powerboat qualification.
• Scuba equipment servicing technician qualifications a plus.
• Applicant MUST be a STRONG swimmer.
• Good judgmentand decision making.
• Personable, approachable, creative and adventurous.
• Taking care of all of our members & guests needs.
• This position will require the ability to drive a golf cart, boats, and marine craft.

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
