Data Center Technician

Next Level Technician has an immediate need for Data Center Technicians in Ashburn VA. The position will require extensive experience in data center operations, specifically in the physical installation and maintenance of server and network hardware. This role involves organizing, installing, and managing server racks, configuring network switches, and ensuring all equipment is properly connected and functioning.

Key Responsibilities

Rack and Stack Operations:

• Physically install, secure, and manage servers, storage devices, and network equipment in data center racks.
• Ensure all equipment is properly labeled, documented, and aligned with data center standards and best practices.
• Perform cable management to ensure efficient airflow and accessibility.
  
  

Switch Installation and Configuration:

• Install and configure network switches, routers, and other networking equipment.
• Implement network configurations based on design specifications and company standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues in a timely manner.
  
  

Hardware Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of data center hardware to ensure optimal performance.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs and replacements as needed.
• Monitor hardware for signs of failure or required updates, and take preemptive action to mitigate potential issues.
  
  

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of all installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare detailed reports on data center operations, including equipment status, maintenance schedules, and incident resolutions.
• Develop and update procedural documentation and guidelines.
  
  

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT staff to support data center operations and projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and other departments as required.
• Participate in data center planning and strategy meetings to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  
  

Compliance and Safety:

• Adhere to all data center policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized data center environment.
  
  

Qualifications:

Education And Experience

• Proven experience in data center operations, specifically in rack and stack activities and network switch configurations.
  
  

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network switches and routers (experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar equipment preferred).
• Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and cable management practices.
• Understanding of network protocols and topologies.
