Customs Entry Writer
Job Opportunity: Customs Entry Writer at Modern Freight Forwarder
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process import and export documentation, including entries for air and ocean shipments.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other government agency regulations.
- Accurately classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ECCN as needed.
- File Importer Security Filings (ISF) and Automated Export System (AES) declarations.
- Communicate with customers, carriers, and customs officials to resolve any issues that arise during the clearance process.
- Track and trace shipments, ensuring timely delivery and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve any discrepancies in documentation or shipment status.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and providing updates on shipment status.
- Maintain accurate records of all customs entries and related documentation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs brokerage or a related field.
- Proficiency in using customs software (e.g., CargoWise, SAP, etc.) and familiarity with EDI feeds and CAT file-driven accounts.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, including INCO Terms and document recognition (e.g., Master/House Bill, Commercial Invoice, Packing List).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation is a plus.
