We are currently seeking a Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Shrewsbury. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company in a newly created role. The position holder will be responsible for overseeing and managing the supply chain & procurement process, overseeing end-to-end supply chain operations from sourcing and procurement to logistics and distribution, ensuring the availability of materials and services required for business operations.
The role involves supplier management, negotiation, and strategic planning to optimize costs and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize the purchasing process
Develop and execute supply chain strategies to meet business objectives
Identify and establish relationships with potential vendors and suppliers
Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favourable terms
Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts and pricing terms
Manage and monitor supplier performance to maintain quality standards and timely delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and meet the company's purchasing needs
Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies during the procurement process
Analyse market trends and conditions to make informed purchasing decisions
Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory control measures
Ensure timely and accurate procurement of materials and services
Oversee inventory management and demand forecasting
Monitor and optimize transportation and warehouse operations
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks
Implement systems and technologies to streamline supply chain processes
Reduce and consolidate supplier and product portfolio
Requirements
Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager / Supply Chain Manager or in a similar role
Strong knowledge of procurement & supply chain practices, regulations, and strategies
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in using procurement software and tools
Professional certification in procurement Or supply chain (e.g., CIPS) is a plus
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Leadership and team management skills
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, or a related field desirable #
Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
