Are you an experienced investigator looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual, with extensive professional experience and expertise in the conduct of complex investigations, to make a significant contribution to the University's response and reputation in the area of student conduct. You will lead and conduct investigations into allegations of student behaviour across a range of complex case areas including sexual misconduct, harassment and hate, embedding a trauma-informed approach, and adhering to policy and procedure. You will join the Student Conduct and Appeals Team, with responsibility for student case work covering a range of issues including student conduct, as well as fitness to practise, final stage appeals and complaints, the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (the student ombudsman), and legal cases. There will be opportunities to apply and further develop your skills in student case work, in addition to the conduct of investigations. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven experience in the drafting of detailed, professional investigation and case work reports for different audiences, capable of withstanding scrutiny and potential challenge. You will work collaboratively with managers and case workers, and liaise with a wide range of contacts including colleagues at all levels, students, their representatives and external bodies (such as the police) where appropriate. There will be opportunities to appear before Student Discipline Panels to present cases. As this role involves highly sensitive and confidential information, you will have an excellent understanding of the handling of such information appropriately and in line with good practice and legal requirements. You will have an awareness of and active engagement with the need for diversity and inclusion, and exercise a high degree of initiative, and professional judgement at all times.
