Project Control Group Leader

The Challenge


The AFC (Administration, Finance & Control) Department is organized within the Stamicarbon organization, the Licensing and IP center for the MAIRE Group. The position holder works in an international environment, highly demanding and challenging, and has to liaise strongly either with the Company’s CFO either with the Parent Company AFC Department, to make sure accurate financial information can be timely provided correct and in given standards. The role also implies frequent interactions with other administrative staff and across Stamicarbon Departments and with the head office (MT).


Project Control Group Leader


The Project Control Group Leader leads the project control team and coordinates the overall project control activities of any size/complexity, in full compliance with the contractual requirements following Company and Group standard methodology, the Company’s quality requirements and CFO instructions.


As a Project Control Group Leader your key responsibilities and authorities are:

• To appoint Project Control Engineers and to provide needs for department resources;

• To coordinate the activities of the project control team to ensure quantity and quality and timely completion of the work within the established budget by suggesting solutions for the optimization of the overall costs of the projects;

• Validating and verifying (through the Project Control Team) and in collaborations with the Project manager and relevant Operations department members the implementation of all the actions needed to ensure the quality and timely completion of the Project within the established budget;

• To ensure preparation of Project Schedule and Project Forecast review through monthly meeting in alignment with Operations representative;

• To coordinate the overall operation to ensure the quarterly issue of the Corporate Workload, in close coordination with the relevant Group Function;

• To develop, improve working practices and instructions which regulate the Discipline performance and the quality of work in order to improve the integration among disciplines and monitor the related implementation, in coordination with the relevant Group Function;

• Support the CFO in the timely preparation of Schedule update, Forecast review along with the issuance of major reports as PSR (Project Status Report) and Tableau de Bord, for further sharing with the relevant Group Function. The reporting will include but it won’t be not limited to project forecast cost and cashflow;

• Supporting through the project control team the Sales department during the project proposal phase reviewing Sales Budget per cost items and evaluating the necessary contingency based on the most updated risk analysis;

• Reporting to CFO problems arising from project forecast updates, including but not limited to impact in cost and time;

• Coordinating quarterly closure activities of the project cost control team, Planning and control team;

• To interact with external auditors during the periodic audits/reviews by supporting the other administrative staff during external audits / reviews, by arranging clarifications for the audit enquiries and by discussing/evaluating the IFRS requirements with the external auditors;

• To ensure the professional growth of the assigned project control engineers as per department and Company needs;

• Accountable for accuracy and timing of project update information provided to the CFO and other relevant parties inside and outside Stamicarbon;

• Responsible for coordinating the overall operation to ensure the monthly issue of the Company Workload;

• Accountable for Project Control activities and timely issuance of updates and reports;

• Responsible to provide updated forecast for project corporate budget to the CFO and develop scenarios according to most updated project risk analysis; •

Coordination and supervision of the financial processes in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders (accountants/ auditors/ management/administrative staff).


The Candidate


Main Job requirements includes:

• University degree in business economics, management engineering or relevant careers;

• High level of conceptual and analytical skills with a strong problem solving orientation by interacting from different perspectives, with flexibility and dynamic approach;

• Relevant experience within an international business environment;

• At least 8 years’ experience in international accounting and international financial statements (IFRS);

• Knowledge of standard accounting principles and IFRS;

• On-job experiences in various F&C positions and disciplines, financial reporting, budgeting/planning, variance analysis monitoring administrative cycles;

• Knowledge across a broad field of F&C disciplines (accounting, reporting, finance, budget, planning, tax);

• Knowledge of SAP (medium level), excel (high level), Power-Bi and other MS Office tools;

• Able to translate complex financial data into clear information for (internal) financial and non-financial stakeholders;

• Accurate, flexible and reliable, with a clear and constant focus on process improvement;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

• Good planning and organizing skills;

• Coaching and management skills;

• Fluent in English (written, spoken).


As Project Control Group Leader you need to have the following specific handling requirements:

• Deals with strictly confidential business information;

• Works in an international environment, highly demanding and challenging;

• Often works under time pressure;

• Often engages in specific tasks involving the overall organization and/or requiring a high capability to focus the issue and develop the appropriate route of analysis;

• Apart from the most standardized administrative cycles, tasks and duties are not usually organized as routine activities and require a high sense of self-organization, dynamic approach and priority;

• Works in team and also often supports/co-ordinate team members in specific tasks;

• Interactions within AFC Department, with other Company’s Departments and with Parent Company are frequent and necessary to successfully complete the tasks;

• Good social and communication skills required to smoothly and easily handle social interactions during the execution of tasks and engagements;

• Cooperation with high qualified management.
