Reports to: Marketing Manager and Chief of Philanthropy and Community Engagement Officer
Overview:
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens invites applicants for a social media internship in the Zoo’s busy marketing department. The marketing department manages the Zoo’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter sites promoting events, conservation, and general updates.
Responsibilities:
Interns will assist the Marketing and Social Media Specialist with the following:
Helping plan and implement the Zoo’s social media schedule.
Coordinating pictures and resources for scheduled posts.
Assisting with events as needed.
Conducting research into emerging social media trends.
Attending and participating in staff meetings.
Other administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications:
Major in communication, marketing, or related field
Excellent writing/editing skills
Strong organizational skills
Willingness to take initiative and motivation to seek new learning opportunities
Keen attention to detail when proofreading, copyediting, and fact-checking
Flexibility and a good sense of humor
Ability to meet deadlines
Good research ability and command of the Internet
Public relations experience or abilities
Professionalism
Physical requirements:
Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to walk, bend, kneel and crawl.
Able to lift and carry 50 pounds without difficulty.
Ability to traverse zoo grounds on foot and operate a motorized golf cart
Additional Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Enrollment in or graduation from an associate or bachelor’s degree program in a related field.

Excellent safety practices including safe operation of hand tools, vehicles, and equipment
