Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Shuttle Driver is to transport student passengers to and from locations using a campus vehicle. Daily Shuttle locations include the College campus and other businesses and medical facilities in the Westminster area. Break Shuttle locations include BWI Airport and BWI Amtrak. This is a part-time position paying an hourly rate of $15.25 an hour.
Specific Responsibilities
Follow all State, Local and Federal Traffic laws while in McDaniel vehicles.
Adhere to guidelines and regulations as they pertain to the College Driving Policy.
Transport student passengers to and from assigned off campus locations including urgent care facilities and shopping areas within Westminster (Daily Shuttle).
Pick up student passengers at the designated location and return passengers to the same area within a designated time frame.
Manage the total number of student passengers on the van during all departing and returning trips (11-passenger van).
Monitor behavior of students riding the van.
Record the number of riders to each location.
Report any problems, issues or concerns involving the shuttle service.
Strictly adhere to the assigned shuttle schedule.
Conduct daily pre- and post- inspections of the assigned vehicle.
Assist with signing in students for the service and recording all of the needed information.
Refuel as needed.
Transport student passengers to and from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and BWI Amtrak Station (Break Shuttle).
Pick up student passengers at the designated location for departure to a specific location at specified times.
Drop off students at the designated location.
Pick up students at BWI Airport and BWI Amtrak Station on specified pick updates and return to McDaniel.
Requirements
Qualifications
A valid Class C driver's license for at least six years and point-free driving record for at least three years (CDL not required)
Availability to work Monday thru Saturdays. Occasionally Sundays are required.
Familiar with the BWI Airport, BWI Amtrak, and the local Westminster area.
Demonstrate ability to drive an 11-passenger van.
Ability to communicate efficiently via cell phone.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and Campus Safety staff.
Physical Characteristics
This position requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as some bending and stooping when inspecting the van. This position does have limited lifting involved but not more than 50 pounds at a time. Finger/hand dexterity is typical with the daily operations of a vehicle. The job setting is primarily within an 11-passenger van.
