FMI is a champion for the food industry and the issues that make a difference to our members in the food industry. The reach and impact of our work is extensive, touching the lives of over 100 million households in the U.S. and representing an $800 billion industry with nearly 6 million employees. Our work is meaningful!


To support our members, the Meetings team plans all logistics for cutting-edge education programs that meet members and industry needs. We are looking to add a new Senior Manager to the team.


Collaborating with internal departments, the Meetings Senior Manager will evaluate plans and execute all aspects of production for FMI’s signature events as well as manage operational components of FMI’s business-to-business (B2B) meetings. In this multi-faceted role, you can look forward to:


  • Initiate, recruit, and cultivate customer/member relationships for Association’s B2B conferences to generate $1mil in sales revenue.
  • Developing budgets by forecasting projected revenue and expenses; and meeting annual revenue goals, identifying potential new sales leads, and growing the community.
  • Planning, managing, and executing FMI’s B2B meetings, including event orders, signage, shipping and receiving, and other logistical components related to the managing and execution of the events at hotels.
  • Serving as liaison to various communities, including retailers, wholesalers, etc. to answer questions and more;
  • Collaborating with Senior Leadership to develop strategic plans for B2B meetings to establish brand continuity and consistency;
  • Collaborating with the Marketing department to include promotional materials.
  • Performing full-scale logistics planning including soliciting bids, performing site inspections, conducting pre-conference meetings, working with speakers, assisting with vendor selections, managing hotel room blocks and shipping, and other tasks to make our events a success;
  • Creating and managing the RFP process for third-party vendors;


The successful candidate will have:


  • A strong sales/recruitment background
  • Five to seven solid years of experience working in meeting management or the hospitality industry;
  • A solid track record of executing 600 to 1,400 person conferences from start to finish;
  • Experience with recruitment and/or exhibit sales and proficiency with shipping and material handling/drayage is a plus;
  • Ability to develop and execute strategy and objectives;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Familiarity with Social Tables or other diagram-related software;
  • Budget management experience with an ability to stay within budget, and find savings where possible; and,
  • The ability to travel domestically up to four times throughout the year with each trip being 2 to 4 days each.
