Position: Digital Media Support Engineer

Contract: 18-24 Months

Location: New York, New York

Pay Rate: $50-$56/HR


Job Description:

The Digital Media Support Engineer is responsible for the support and development of the Editing, Streaming, Graphics and Production facilities in New York. This encompasses the evaluation and build of new technology solutions, assist with or coordinate project tasks and provide technical support for the content creation and distribution of News daily broadcasts, digital live stream and delivery to streaming partners and VOD.

Responsibilities:

The Digital Media Support Engineer is responsible for the support and development of the Editing, Streaming, Graphics and Production facilities in New York. This encompasses the evaluation and build of new technology solutions, assist with or coordinate project tasks and provide technical support for the content creation and distribution of ABCNews daily broadcasts, digital live stream and delivery to streaming partners and VOD.

  1. Build, maintain and support all postproduction facilities for ABCNews
  2. Build, maintain and support NVision router control system and
  3. baseband workflows
  4. Build, maintain and support VOD, streaming, radio and broadcast
  5. workflows
  6. Develop and maintain technical solutions to create efficiencies in
  7. content acquisition and distribution
  8. Contribute to or lead system sustainment and upgrade projects
  9. Work closely with our Operation teams to develop workflow solutions for
  10. their business needs
  11. Interface with vendors in troubleshooting efforts
  12. Create “how to” documentation for users and peers
  13. Create technical drawings


Schedule:

They would start Mon-Fri, 8-4p for the first few months for training, then will likely be moved to overnight and weekends - depending on level of performance. Weekends are 12-hour shifts (day 12p-12a and overnight 12a-12p). We have a two-person weekly rotation for each shift, so the candidate would be required to work a weekend shift (day or overnight) every other week.


Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in a broadcast environment
  2. Strong computer/networking knowledge
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical people
  4. Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision
  5. Strong organizational skills
  6. Ability to learn and adapt to new technology
  7. Flexible work hours, we are a 24/7 facility with evening, weekends and holidays work hours
  8. Works well under pressure
  9. Team player
  10. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, install and manage a variety of systems specific to editing and graphics creation
  11. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills –combine critical thinking, logic, analytic reasoning, research and experience
  12. Demonstrated ability building and maintaining virtual machines and physical servers


Preferred Qualifications:

AVID Media Composer Experience is a huge plus, but we also use Adobe (Premier, Aftereffects, etc). Even if they have Media Composer, the environment is very customized and will have a training curve for anyone. More important than software experience: Broadcast experience, editing experience, and a trainable/moldable mindset with the ability to think critically.
