Responsibilities
Hamilton Medical, Inc. is looking for a Materials Manager who will be responsible for operational and strategic procurement activities to cost efficiently manage our supply chain and serve the procurement and logistics needs of the business. This role leads a team of Buyers to maintain stable inventory levels, control forward looking forecasting for all materials (including raw components for manufacturing and finished goods for warehouse), drive down costs throughout the supply chain, and add alternative vendors to increase supply redundancy and create competitive pricing. A leading candidate collaborates exceptionally with multiple teams (Sales, Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality, partner companies) and drives a culture of continuous improvement, data-lead decision making, and world-class execution of tasks to optimize the materials branch of the business.
Oversees operational procurement to ensure that all necessary materials and services for internal and external customers are kept at target safety stock levels
Manages the team and vendors with the required prioritization to support manufacturing of products and stocking of warehouses to maintain production and shipping schedules
Maintain forecast/demand for the MRP as determined by customer demands and internal business needs
Coordinates effective SCAR activities with Quality team to resolve material issues
Drives corrective actions and continuous improvement throughout supply chain with the team to stop repeat issues and take preventive action against future risks
Executes effective forecasting in the MRP to drive stocking levels to appropriate targets
Monitors excess and obsolete inventory and perishable inventory to minimize negative financial impacts
Responsible for coordinating cost negotiations with vendors for materials and services to attain annual cost savings goals
Develops the skills and abilities of their team to grow their business impact
Develops new processes, procedures, and approaches as required
Strategizes and executes plans for alternative vendors/sources of materials and services to improve part availability and drive down cost
Coordinates with Engineering group on projects to introduce new products, materials, processes, and change management
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Working knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) Systems. Microsoft Dynamics is preferred
Advanced skills in Excel
Excellent communication – oral and written
Sound knowledge of supply chain practices including forecasting, FIFO, vendor evaluation, and SCAR
Strong problem-solving abilities and root cause analysis
Experience in cycle counting practices regarding inventory control
Project management experience - ability to meet deadlines, both short term and long term
Leadership experience with direct and indirect reports
Education/Experience
5 plus years of experience preferred in Supply Chain Management of related field
Business degree or technical degree or equivalent
Master’s degree in business or equivalent desired
D365 or similar ERP/MRP/CRM software application experience
