General Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Manager is a professional position that works collaboratively across all campuses to build strong and competitive RPCC brand awareness. The incumbent is responsible for comprehensive strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of measurable marketing campaigns, and internal and external public relations activities and communications. The Manager utilizes creative problem-solving skills and in-depth knowledge and understanding of marketing, social media platforms, website integration, and analytics to communicate with diverse populations. Responsible for promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, respect, inclusiveness, excellence, and sustainability.

Principal Duties, Responsibilities And Authority

  • Coordinates all public relations activities, including monitoring, analyzing, and reporting results to college leadership quarterly and on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Develops and implements a marketing communications plan, including strategy, goals, and budget.
  • Develops and implements media relations campaigns, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast, and online media.
  • Collaborates with the recruitment, community engagement and foundation teams to produce effective materials to support and drive awareness, recruitment, enrollment, and fundraising.
  • Attends and documents organizational events through video or photographs.
  • Maintains a shared media library of all event photographs and videos.
  • Manages social media content to engage target audiences and identify threats and opportunities in user-generated content. Reports notable threats as appropriate.
  • Serves as RPCC advocate in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the RPCC Foundation to cultivate and/or maintain vendor relationships, including apparel companies, graphic design vendors, etc.
  • Compiles and distributes a quarterly newsletter, including enrollment data and success stories.
  • Reviews website and serves as liaison between RPCC staff and website vendor to ensure information is updated as needed.
  • Supervises part-time employees or student workers; assigns projects, provides feedback, and ensures project completion.
  • Multi-tasks and manages multiple projects while meeting deadlines, and prioritizing resources.
  • Maintains and leverages existing media relationships and cultivates new contacts within industry.
  • Oversees media inquiries and interview requests.
  • Creates and/or authorizes internal and external content for press releases, byline articles, and keynote presentations, as well as brochures, flyers, etc.
  • Collaborates with applicable leadership to evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising on an on-going basis.
  • Complies with Business Office policies and procedures regarding credit card usage and completes required trainings.
  • Serves on various college committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with emphasis in marketing, advertising, communications, or related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Proven experience in public relations and social media campaigns, and communications.
  • Strong existing relationships with media outlets.
  • Experience acting as a spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Innovative, creative, and energetic work style with ability to identify, learn, and implement new concepts.
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) is a plus
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Exceptional visual design, writing and editing skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution with emphasis in marketing, advertising, communications, or related experience.
