The Lead Curriculum Developer, K-5 Math will provide the curriculum development leadership and logistical planning that enables Amplify to successfully create and refine Amplify Desmos Grade 3 Math by working closely with curriculum developers, graph specialists, illustrators, editors, product leaders, project management, and others to create high–quality, engaging digital and print curriculum.

Note: This role’s responsibilities are in addition to the responsibilities of one’s core job description. Lead Curriculum Developers spend 60% of their time on the responsibilities of Curriculum Developers, K–5 Math and 40% of their time on the additional responsibilities listed below.

Develop

  • Contribute to the development of Amplify Desmos Math curriculum by designing and building new curriculum materials (lessons, teacher materials, assessments, etc).
  • Creatively ideate lessons and activities that both delight and engage students and meet the needs of schools and teachers to cover specific standards.
  • Designs for real classrooms in creating materials that are doable, not overly ambitious, flow makes sense with real students and real teachers.

Collaborate

  • Work closely with a grade-band team to ensure coherence, quality, and mathematical accuracy of curriculum content and to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with members of the Editorial, Design, Interactives, and Illustration teams to produce the highest levels of usability, accessibility, and delight.
  • Provide constructive feedback on existing and in progress lessons, offering ideas for improvement. Offer feedback in written form and also via video chat because conversation is a natural way humans think together.
  • Receive, synthesize, and strategically implement feedback from other team members to improve and polish the curriculum materials
  • Support and be supported by the rest of the team throughout your tenure at Amplify.

  • Grow as a leader in math education curriculum development by engaging in professional learning.

Influence

  • Identify ways that our approach to equity can further inform our work, in terms of the products we make, the processes we use to make them, and the ways we interact with our teammates.

Additional Responsibilities Of The Lead Curriculum Developer

  • Subject Matter Expert. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for a designated grade level. In that capacity, review content to ensure alignment to standards and coherence within the grade. Support Curriculum Developers through ensuring internalization of grade-level content.
  • Workflows. Work closely with the Curriculum Manager for their grade band, Senior Curriculum Developers and other Lead Curriculum Developers, and members of the project management team to establish (and refine, as needed) efficient and effective workflows for the development of Amplify Desmos Math K–5 that meet deadlines.

Basic Qualifications Of The Lead Curriculum Developer

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, mathematics education, or a related field.
  • 5 years of classroom teaching experience in K–5 mathematics.
  • Experience with curriculum development and related experience in mathematics education.
  • Demonstrated project leadership and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting a team and building a cohesive culture while ensuring the ability to hit high quality standards and ambitious timelines.

Preferred Qualifications Of The Lead Curriculum Developer

  • 2 years of experience with curriculum development in K–5 mathematics.
  • Experience leading teams in educational environments.
  • Proficiency in using the Desmos Activity Builder.

What We Offer

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a lucrative 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross annualized salary range for this role is $85,000 - $90,000.
