About Seton College:

Seton College is a new two-year college division of UMSV that will offer an associate's degree for 100 students that have been historically underserved, who may require additional academic support, and who are motivated for post-secondary success annually beginning in the 2024-25 academic year. The program's goal is to prepare students to enroll in a bachelor's degree program or to begin their professional careers. Seton College students will study on the Riverdale Campus of UMSV and have full access to UMSV's facilities and programs.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

60% - Shaping and implementing the Career Values and Philosophy for Seton College

  • Establish and cultivate targeted organizational relationships and build the pipeline structure that leads to jobs and internships for students via direct outreach to employers, participation in professional organizations, recruitment fairs, connecting with other like-minded institutions, and more
  • Serves as the primary point of contact between employers/recruiters and students/alumni in the Seton College program for career and job placement
  • Curates and disperses information on relevant events, conferences, and programs that inform students and alumni of opportunities that aid their job search for use via social media and mass communications
  • Attends internal and external meetings for student organizations, internal/external career fairs, and college events, including new student orientation, as necessary

20% - Collaboration and Career Education throughout Seton College and the University of Mount Saint Vincent

  • Collaborates with the Dean, College advisory board, UMSV Director of Career Education & Internships, Faculty, and Staff (specifically Oxley Integrated Advising Program and HEOP) to develop work-related opportunities for students
  • Buildings strong relationship with Oxley Integrated Advising Program to structure student outreach, programming, and career related activities
  • Develops and implements programming focused on career readiness skills for students, such as resumes, LinkedIn, interview skills, successful job search strategies, and more
  • Develops and executes career exposure programming, including panels and job shadowing opportunities
  • Hosts individual and group sessions to provide assistance for resume preparation and interviewing techniques


20% - Reporting and Data responsibilities

  • Responsible for bi-monthly reporting and monitoring of student job and internship placement, as well as employer engagement and satisfaction
  • Manage the research, knowledge development, and overall direction of student career exposure within Seton College to expose students to employer trends, how to improve professionally, and connect their academics to their future
  • Additional duties as required
