The Fund for the Public Interest is seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change to fill citizen outreach and field manager positions across the country this summer. With offices in selected cities across the country this summer, we are hiring full-time staff, with leadership opportunities available, to work on issues like stopping plastic pollution, saving the bees, and moving towards a 100% clean energy future.

This summer in our Massachusetts offices, we’re working to save the North Atlantic right whales. These whales are critically endangered, with only about 360 left. In just the first 2 months of 2024, 3 baby and young right whales have been killed from boat strikes and getting tangled in fishing gear. If we don’t stop these threats, scientists say they won't survive. To save the whales, we need to slow down boats where these whales spend time. The Biden administration is considering a plan to do so, but it’s facing stiff opposition from the shipping and boating industries, who have managed to delay the plan’s approval. In order to urge the administration into action they need to hear from the people, so we are hiring staff to build support for the preservation of these critically endangered whales this summer.

As a canvasser you will:

  • Educate and engage citizens, build support and fundraise on pressing issues
  • Get experience with the leadership and communication skills and connections needed to launch your career
  • Build membership and raise money for environmental and social change groups
