Business Analyst

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Serves as a core member of the graduate admissions team which actively supports the recruitment, selection, and attraction of the strongest possible student body for Weatherhead School of Management. Collaborate closely across enrollment and recruitment functions and serve as the go-to for reporting efficacy partnering with Slate Captain and other business analysts across the school. This role is pivotal in creating and maintaining business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, and methods to propel our institution towards a data-informed culture. Partner across departments to develop and implement metrics and tools aligned with our mission, strategic goals, and priorities, ensuring we measure and evaluate program efficacy, services, processes, and operational performance effectively. This role is at the forefront of driving data-driven decision-making processes, ensuring Weatherhead School of Management remains agile and responsive to the ever-evolving landscape of enrollment and recruitment.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with marketing and enrollment management teams to identify and define key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to provide actionable insights for decision-making. Partner across functions and departments to implement metrics and tools for measuring program efficacy and operational performance. Provide input on ways to improve the processes. (50%)
  • Develop application and admission reports for benchmarking and year over year comparison. Analyze and measure the success of application and onboard processes. Collaborate with Slate systems manager to continuously optimize data maintenance and organization for maximum accessibility and staff usage. Create and maintain business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, and systems. (30%)
  • Fulfill data requests from stakeholders, including admissions directors, director of marketing, program faculty directors, and dean's administration. Communicate analysis results and recommendations to senior leadership. Produce regular and ad hoc reports, create statistical models, and provide predictive analytics. (10%)
  • Responsive to urgent or emerging requests. Understands that the nature of reporting and data analysis responsibilities often requires work outside of normal business hours and is prepared to do so in order to meet deadlines and respond to urgent issues as they arise. (10%)

CONTACTS

Department: Continuous contact with all personnel in the immediate department, dean's office, faculty, and staff to provide information and resolve data issues.

University: Occasional contact with information technology, admissions offices, financial aid and registrars to request access, share information, learn about updates.

External: Infrequent contact with prospective students, vendors, other contacts as needed and alumni.

Students: Infrequent contact with current students.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No staff supervisory responsibility. In coordination with the broader enrollment and recruitment team manage the data reporting and analysis across the graduate marketing and enrollment team.

QUALIFICAITONS

Experience: 1 to 2 or more years of experience in business analytics.

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Required Skills

  • List High-level analytical skills and excellent computer skills, including the ability to work with advanced MS Office, complex databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Experience utilizing complex information held databases. Prior experience with Slate, along with any knowledge/ experience in SQL, CSS, HTML, PowerBI, and Tableau.
  • Has a strong desire to innovate and improve systems and processes that maximize efficiency through data insights.
  • Intuitive decision-maker who takes satisfaction in ownership of the responsibility and authority of the position.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and changing environment and leads with a collaborative and positive attitude that supports the mission of the school.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office environment: dynamic and fast-paced team environment. The majority of admissions related tasks must be completed within 1 to 2 business-day turnaround to achieve a high level of customer service.
