Benefits Assistant (Sepulveda Human Resources)

This position is hybrid, and you have the option to elect into a 9/80 flex schedule. The pay range for this position is between $27.30 - $30.33 hourly.

Summary

The primary responsibility of the HR Benefits Assistant is to provide administrative support to the HR Benefits area while providing a high level of internal and external human resources customer service as needed.

Primary Duties

  • Provides support with administration of employee benefit programs, assesses documents and ensuring timely entry into benefits systems; handling enrollment, claims, benefit status changes, eligibility, or coverage issues.
  • Assist with annual benefits open enrollment.
  • Assist, advise, and counsel employees on day-to-day benefit-related questions
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to following:
    • Leaves of absence (LOA)
    • Accommodations
    • Work with management staff to determine return to work and engage in the interactive process, if necessary.
    • Workers' compensation administration


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Experience with Benetrac, UKG or related programs.
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handles highly sensitive, personal situations.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Highly collaborative style and strong team orientation
  • Highly organization with ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet critical deadlines
  • Accurately transcribe and transmit incoming and outgoing information.
  • Orientation towards customer service and demonstrated experience with following up on actions
  • Ability to use independent judgment and prioritize work
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to engage any individual regardless of background.
  • Goal-oriented team player with strong experience working in large and complex systems.
  • Current California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
