The Health Services Psychology Department at KCU is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology position at 1.0 FTE. The successful candidate will serve in a collaborative role between the Clinical Psychology program at KCU and local school systems starting in Fall 2024. Candidates who apply will have the opportunity to provide, score, and interpret psychological assessment batteries for elementary-age students, work on multidisciplinary teams, and provide supervision for KCU PsyD students. Candidates are expected to be licensed, have experience with psychological assessment, and have experience with supervision of doctoral level students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess the cognitive ability, academic achievement, adaptive behavior, transition and social/emotional/behavioral status of referred elementary students
Scoring assessment measures both by hand and with the use of computer scoring software
Interpretation, analysis and synthesis of results of an assessment battery to establish an effective and understandable individual student profile for staff and parents
Provide groups or individual therapeutic counseling to special education students
Provide ongoing, regular supervision to doctoral-level clinical psychology students
Providing service to the department and university
Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director
Supportive Functions:
Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree and license in Clinical or School Psychology (PsyD or PhD) from an APA accredited program
Knowledge, sensitivity, and passion for diversity, multiculturalism, social justice, and community service
Demonstrated success with teaching and classroom management skills.
Experience mentoring students
Impeccable oral and written communication skills
Ability to employ critical thinking and analysis to solve complex problems
Ability to interact successfully with academic, clinical, business, and regulatory personnel
Ability to successfully work within and support a diverse environment of students and colleagues
Ability to work effectively as a team member to ensure that departmental goals are met by providing support to staff, and always keeping students’ and graduates’ best interest as a priority
Strong interpersonal skills
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
