The Vitol Foundation was established in 2006, registered in Switzerland and operating independently from Vitol’s business interests. Since then, the Vitol Foundation has funded over 2000 projects in more than 120 countries around the world.

The Vitol Foundation aims to make a difference in the lives of people around the world trapped in poverty. They are passionate about supporting organisations and programme, that can take children and their families in the poorest of countries across the world out of the vicious cycle of multi-dimensional poverty.

Their work is focused on six core areas: education, health, enterprise and livelihoods, humanitarian relief and emergencies, water, sanitation and hygiene and local giving through Vitol’s offices worldwide.

By providing different typed of financing to non-governmental organisations and social enterprises, they aim to:

  • Fund transformational, efficient, sustainable, scalable and replicable investments to support and strengthen government, private sector and community systems to provide sustainable health, water, sanitation and hygiene, education and employment opportunities
  • Address the systemic issues that make humanitarian crises more acute, by funding resilience and preparation in addition to recovery
  • Share models of evidence-based best practice that can be scaled by government, private sector and/or communities
  • Act responsibly with diverse partners with sensitivity to their circumstances and cultural contexts
  • Increase engagement and leverage the knowledge base of the Vitol Group worldwide

Job Description

  • Grant Management: Assist in managing the grant application process, including reviewing proposals and budgets, conducting due diligence, and monitoring grantee progress.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on social issues, trends, and best practices to inform grant-making decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluation and Impact Assessment: Support efforts to measure and evaluate the impact of the Foundation's programs and grants, using data and metrics to assess effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with grantees, partners, and other stakeholders, serving as a point of contact and providing support as needed.
  • Communication and Reporting: Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and communications materials to share updates on the Foundation's activities and impact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administrative Support: Given the small size of the team, provide administrative support to the Foundation team where, including scheduling meetings, managing documents, and coordinating logistics for events and site visits.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of prior experience at a foundation, charity, management consulting, investing, or in a corporate/ start up investment role.
  • Commitment to the Foundation's work, with a passion for making a positive impact in the community. Lived experience in the contexts that the Foundation supports preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings effectively.
  • High-energy and independent self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit, and great teammate.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish and French an added bonus.
