Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust

Collections Officer

Are you passionate about the arts and interested in facilitating access to them in a unique healthcare setting? Do you believe that art has the potential to transform the experience of children and their families in hospital?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the GOSH Arts team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, in a one-year fixed term post.

GOSH Arts’ live arts programme, art collection and temporary displays inspire creativity, create welcoming environments, and offer meaningful and innovative cultural opportunities for communities both in and around the hospital. Our work plays an essential role in enhancing the hospital experience. Engaging with visiting artists and having art developed in collaboration with our community integrated into our buildings helps to create less clinical environments, contributes to reducing stress and anxiety and creates space for reflection and exchange.

GOSH Arts holds over 400 artworks in the permanent collection, most of which is on continuous display around the hospital. The collection is made up of paintings, prints, sculpture, digital artworks, and site-specific interventions.

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day care of the GOSH art collection, ensuring that it is well maintained, catalogued, is accessible to the hospital community and is brought to life through a series of regular creative interventions. The Collections Officer will also take an active role in growing the collection, ensuring that it is relevant to and reflective of our hospital community.

GOSH is committed to recruiting the best person for the job, based solely on their ability and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the role; through a process that is fair, open, consistent and free from bias and discrimination.

We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer and foster a culture where all staff are valued, respected and acknowledged. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, disability status or length of time spent unemployed.

We particularly welcome applications from BAME communities, people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions and LGBT community members.

We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated fairly and consistently. We are proud to be accredited as a Disability Confident Employer, a member of Business Disability Forum and a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

We have active and Executive supported BAME, LGBT and Allies, Disability and Long-Term Health Conditions and Women’s staff networks. Staff networks are employee-led groups formed around interests, issues and a common bond or background. Staff network members create a positive and inclusive work environment at Great Ormond Street Hospital by actively contributing to the Trust’s mission, values and efforts specific to inclusion. All of our staff networks are open to any employee.
